Application and Rotation Process

Postgraduate Rotations

1.

Residents must submit an on-line application to ROMP with the rotation request including: specialty, dates, desired community (3 choices).  For every separate rotation (ie. different dates, different specialty, different community) a separate application must be completed.

a)
If rotations have been pre-arranged, and the community and/or preceptor has been confirmed, please indicate this clearly on the application.

2.
Once the application is submitted, a username and password are generated and supplied to the applicant via e-mail at the bottom of the rotation summary.  The password cannot be changed; therefore, it is reccommened that the username and password are recorded for future reference.
3. ROMP confirms the resident's credentials with the CMPA and the CPSO.

4.

ROMP sends the learner an e-mail requesting a Dean's letter of good standing be sent from their school.  Until this document is received, applications cannot be processed. If an application is submitted more than four months in advance, this step will be held until four months prior to the rotation's start.

5.

ROMP sends out preceptor requests until a preceptor is confirmed. This is process may take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks - please be patient as ROMP works to secure a placement for you.

6.
ROMP sends the learner's credentials to the preceptor to sign as the responsible physician for the rotation.
7.
When the signatures are returned to the ROMP office, ROMP sends the learner an official confirmation letter with the physician's contact information and any additional contact information for the community.  The learner is responsible for making arragements for their first day.   It is considered unprofessional behaviour to cancel the rotation once a preceptor has been confirmed. ROMP will notify the leaner's school of any unprofessional behaviour.

Please review Core DME Cancellation Policy

8.
If accommodations are needed, ROMP will make the appropriate arrangments, or provide the learner with the appropriate information to make arrangements with the community.
9.
ROMP sends the paperwork to the hospital for the Cheif of Staff or CEO to sign for the rotation, granting hospital priveleges to the learner.
10.
Once these signatures are returned, Dr. Wells, ROMP executive director, signs as a formal confirmation of the rotation.
11.
In communities with an Education Coordinator, ROMP will send them an orientation package to give to the learner on the first day.  In communities without an Education Coordinator, the orientation package is e-mailed directly to the learner during the week prior to the rotation.
12.

The resident must submit a rotation evaluation to the ROMP office  within 30 days of completing the rotation. If the rotation is funded, the resident must also submit an expense claim form with all necessary receipts
