Rural Stream Opportunities with ROMP

McMaster Rural Stream

In collaboration with ROMP, Family Medicine Residents can complete a large portion or all of their training at a rural site with the McMaster Rural Stream Program. Funding is provided for off site training.


ROMP Communities Available:


Collingwood and Stayner

Owen Sound

Example of a two year schedule:


Year 1

  • 4 months of Family Medicine
  • 2 months of Internal Medicine
  • 2 months of Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • 1 month of Pediatrics
  • 1 month Neonatal Care
  • 2 months Emergency Medicine

Year 2

  • 4 months of Family Medicine
  • 2 months of Community Medicine
  • 2 months of Internal Medicine
  • 1 month of Ambulatory Geriatrics
  • 1 month Selective
  • 2 month Elective

University of Toronto Rural Stream


Family Medicine Residents have the opportunity to complete eight months of training at a rural site. Funding is provided for off site training.


ROMP Communities Available:

Midland
Orangeville

Orillia

Port Perry

Example of a two year schedule:

Year 1

  • Completed at various Toronto Hospitals

Year 2

  • Horizontal learning model for 12 months at one the previously mentioned communities.
