Funding
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) provides funding for ROMP to offer preceptors a modest stipend per four week rotation. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty support and development (including site visits, consultations, a simplified faculty appointment process and development of local resources). ROMP will still provide administrative support for rotations that do not qualify for funding to preceptors. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty development opportunities and assistance in developing local resources.
Teaching Appointments
ROMP teaching appointments are made through McMaster University and allow preceptors to teach residents from all six Ontario medical schools. Part-time faculty appointments require CCFP or Royal College certification. An existing faculty appointment does not exclude any practitioner from affiliation with ROMP.
Applications for appointment may be obtained from the ROMP office. The package includes information regarding criteria for appointment. All preceptors are encouraged to participate in the ongoing improvement and development of the program.
Undergraduate teaching does not require CCFP, nor is it necessary to apply for a faculty appointment through McMaster. However, an application to teach for ROMP must be completed and can be obtained from the ROMP office or printed from the file below.
Note: ROMP provides the same level of support and development for both undergraduate and postgraduate preceptors.
