About ROMP

The Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care to offer undergrads and postgrads from all Ontario medical schools training with physicians in rural communities across south central Ontario.

The ROMP Community Development Office coordinates physician recruitment and retention strategies for communities across south central Ontario.

ROMP will coordinate funded and unfunded core and elective rotations for Ontario undergraduates and residents in:

  • Family Medicine
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Internal Medicine
  • Psychiatry
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • General Surgery

*Funding may be available for clerks and residents who complete a minimum of four weeks. A monthly *stipend is also available for preceptors teaching a minimum of four weeks.
